Hong Kong continues to attract foreign talent. Expatriates make up almost 10% of Hong Kong’s population of 7.5 million, and foreigners mostly work in sectors such as banking and finance.
In this episode of Spotlight, we take a tour of Hong Kong with Sebastian Chaker, head of Allfunds’ Hong Kong office. The Spanish WealthTech company he leads is located in the International Financial Center in the financial district.
According to Sebastian, Hong Kong is an important destination for businesses operating in the financial sector. He explains that Hong Kong’s main advantages are its strong regulatory framework and world-class infrastructure, with good public transport and a well-connected airport. He also cites the diversity of the workforce, which includes Hong Kongers and foreigners.
Sebastian takes us to the must-see sights of Hong Kong. Our first stop is the Central Market, a Bauhaus-style wet market that has been recently renovated and hosts restaurants, restaurants, cultural exhibitions and shops.
We walk into the SoHo District along the Central Escalator, one of the largest outdoor escalators in the world. In the SoHo District, we visit the renovated Tai Kwun Centre, a former Victoria prison and police headquarters.
Finally, we go to Victoria Peak, one of the most famous points of the city with its legendary view of Hong Kong skyscrapers.
