The change of direction earned her waza-ari with a gold score, her 7th Paris Grand Slam gold medal! What a great success! Fans went crazy for Agbegnenou!

IJF President Marius VIZER presented the medals.

“I’m really happy,” Agbegnenou said. “I’m really proud and I want to thank all my supporters. They were truly amazing. Sometimes when I felt it was hard I could feel the crowd and I didn’t want to let them down. I needed to show them that I was here today. Thank you, thank you so much and I will be there in Paris, I will need you ”.

At -73kg, ISHIHARA TATSUKI won the Gold medal in his first outing on the World Judo Tour, scoring waza-ari with a powerful ashi-guruma against Georgia’s Giorgi CHIKHLADZE in the final.

The medals were awarded by Otabek UMAROV, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia.

At -70KG, Miriam BUTKEREIT stunned the appreciative and knowledgeable French crowd with a well-executed counter punch against advancing home favorite Marie Meskene GAHIE.

The medals were presented by World War Games President Stephan FOX.

-81kg world number one Matthias CASSE produced a well-timed line-gurma towards the golden score to top the podium in Paris earlier, following victory in 2020.

Center for Fundamental Rights – Hungary, Director General Miklos SZANTHO presented the medals.

“Paris is always a great atmosphere,” Casse said. “So many people so close to the game, it’s an honor for us to fight here and it’s a great atmosphere.”

The French team was in top form today; The host country thrilled the audience throughout the day!
