Before the start of day one of the Judo World Tour in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, double Olympic and three-time World champion Shohei Ono attended and held a signing ceremony for all his fans.
In the -48 kg category, Mongolian Baasankhuu BAVUUDORJ came first after a physically challenging final.
The medals were presented by Mr. Fabrice CAQUIN, CEO of Selerys.
Muhammadsoleh QUVATOV from Tajikistan won the gold medal for her country with a magnificent ippon in the -60 kg category! The crowd erupted with pride and excitement! It was a fantastic start for local athletes with great support from the fans.
The medals were presented by Mr. Ismoil MAHMADZOIR, President of the Tajikistan Judo Federation.
“The atmosphere today was really nice, I enjoyed it – people in the crowd were cheering so much – I enjoyed it so much I wanted to win the medal for them,” said QUVATOV.
The -52 kg category was the Swiss affair, with both Binta NDIAYE and Fabienne KOCHER making it to the finals. Kocher took the gold medal due to penalties. Experience victories!
Mr Ki-Young JEON, IJF Chief Referee Director, presented the medals.
“The atmosphere in the gym today was amazing, people were screaming from the very first round and it was amazing, it gave us so much energy here all day long,” KOCHER said.
In -66 kg, the home team was the favorite again. Obid DZHEBOV defeated Serdar RAHIMOV from Turkmenistan. Rahimov won the gold medal on penalties after a tough fight.
TCELL CEO Mr. Ozodkhon DAVLATSHOEV presented the medals.
-Jessica KLIMKAIT, with 57 kilos, was on the podium once again after winning on penalties.
IJF Sports Director Michael TAMURA presented the medals.
